Good for Gaming, EXCELLENT for Media!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This monitor is beautiful. It's the quality you expect from the Dell Ultra Sharp series. It's a bit of an in-betweener. Something of a do-everything monitor. Its, Not FHD or UHD, but QHD - It's not 1080, which would allow for lower cost and align with mainstream gaming a bit more. It's not 4k either, which would align more with media production or entertainment more. However, QHD bares considerably more detail than FHD, averts some of the pant-kicking price of 4k. IPS - IPS monitors are specifically known for their wider viewing angles and high color accuracy. These features make them a must have for content creators - photographers and videographers. However beautiful IPS monitors may be, they are slower (response time) and more expensive than the TN panels preferred by the gaming community. This creates a bit of a compromise for that use-case. This monitor is not completely useless for gaming, however. Sure, not ideal... and a dedicated gaming monitor with a 1ms response time, 60+Hz (144Hz) refresh rate and plenty good enough 1080p resolution WILL (almost always) be cheaper at this size or even a step up to 27". I have been playing console games on this monitor daily since my purchase and I have to say, the colors are beautiful, image quality is superb, refresh rate at 60Hz is plenty for most situation. I do get an occasional screen tear, but such is the world of gaming. For the casual gamer, photographer/videographer and do-everything PC user like myself. This is a phenomenal monitor. With many great features: Gaming is as good as expected. Not stellar, but more than passable, and dare I say... enjoyable! Photo/video editing is a major step up from a more affordable 1080p monitor. Color accuracy is beautiful and the sRGB color space is necessary. Convenience is through the roof - 4 total USB 3.0 data/charge ports, 1 HDMI, 2 DisplayPort, 1 Mini-DisplayPort for easy dual monitor setups. Plus Optical and the run of the mill 3.5mm Mic/Headphone jack. Vesa Mount capable for dual monitor or fancy folk. Or, the provided Dell mount/base is quite nice. Height adjustable - 8-10" I'd say... Tilt forward and back - more back than forward, and I'd say atleast 20-30 degrees... Its a considerable range compared to other monitors I've used. You can even rotate the monitor 90 degrees to a vertical position to make port access super simple. The base is very weighty and stable. I was super impressed by this. Worth every penny.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Extremely crisp monitor. Can be used horizontally or vertically, but that's not what sets it apart. It has very narrow edges which let you stack or side-by-side several of these. And, the crispness is ultimate. Aesthetically first rate as well.

Fantastic IPS when buying on sale.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am going to school for programming and I was looking for a monitor that was IPS that wouldn't break the bank. I wasn't 100% sure if I should upgrade to 4K or upgrade to 2k (coming from a 27" 1080p.) I had read quite a few reviews on this previous (or sister model?) And only a handle for this exact one. With a lot of programmers really enjoying the monitor, so I saw that it was on sale for $250 and snatched up the only non display model they had left. I would have to say after a month of having it I absolutely love it. I love having a native 2k IPS that I put in portrait mode that I can code on. The color is absolutely stunning, perfect for what I need it for. My only complaint is the "Dell HDR" which is a complete joke, which I knew before buying, however, due to the price I could careless about the HDR. The one thing I thought I would never use is the USB ports, however after setting up my monitor arms I wound up plugging in my keyboard and mouse in to the back, and use the usbs(which are at the top now) for flash drives which make it super convenient as m y desk top is out of arms reach. I could highly recommend to anyone(on sale) that is looking to upgrade from a 1080p, who doesn't want to fully invest into a 4k due to space. ( as usually to get best clarity you need 27" - 32"+) I was talked into buying a displayport cord, however there is a mini DP(from monitor) to normal DP(gfx card) included, which works just fine. Also on a side note, this is my first dell. Really pleased with this budget Ultrasharp, and wish my work would buy two for me to use during working hours. Not even after a week of buying this I bought a Dell S2716DGR to upgrade my gaming 27" 1080P. Which also was on sale at $350. Not as impressed with it, however I love having the screen real estate and the price outweighed any cons for the S2716DGR.

An excellent monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love it! It took me a long time to find a 1440p IPS monitor that I really liked - good color, no light bleed, no hassle. And this is it! I got it on a great sale and couldn't be happier. Very solid build quality. Love the stand and adjustable height. Also love the fact that it can rotate 90 degrees and display in portrait orientation! That's a feature I didn't know I needed until I had it. Side note - if you're linking up from a Surface or similar laptop (ie using both screens) BE SURE TO TURN ON "MST". Otherwise, your experience will be marred with color banding and choppy color gradation. Turn it on, and the color reproduction is smooth as silk.

Perfect for 2 Macs, small desk, high expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a small home office I'm using a MacBook Pro 15" (2017) for company work and a MacBook Air (2017) for personal and side work. This Dell UltraSharp is freaking me out, it is so perfectly what I needed. Setup is quick & easy - but glad I had an extra HDMI cable at home because there's not one in the box (a return trip for a cable would've been a buzz kill). With the MacBook Pro I'm using a USB Type-C-to-HDMI adapter. With the Air, a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter. Easy to plug & play between one and the other. Pro and Air use different native resolutions, but both look great without any fuss or adjustment. This is a generous 25" display for working comfortably with multiple spreadsheets, graphics, browsers, apps, etc. simultaneously. Other great features for a tight workspace: Sturdy and versatile, easy to change height, tilt, and landscape/portrait orientation. I can use the extra USB ports on the side for charging my phone and keyboard within easy reach without need for a hub. Built-in cord hole keeps cordage neat and handy for swapping laptops. All this and I didn't have to spend a fortune or get a bigger desk.

Fantastic Panel for Gaming and Creative Work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's worth noting that there are some reviews for this monitor talking about how certain things happen with it with certain titles of video games. That is NOT the monitor. Displays cannot differentiate what is being output to them, they just display the pixels as your device sends them. This monitor is fantastic for gaming, especially when you want to balance a higher refresh rate than 60 hertz, with a very very wide color gamut. Games like Far Cry 3, Shadow Warrior 2, Mad Max, and Metro: Last Light look fantastic with the dynamic HDR feature enabled. They also look incredibly smooth with the 75 hz refresh rate. Putting the monitor together is incredibly easy, it arrives in three pieces and is tool-less assembly. Comes with a hefty assortment of cables. A USB 3.0 A to B cable for the USB 3.0 hub on the back. An mDP to DP cable for gaming laptops or Mac/Surface devices, and a good quality HDMI 2.0 cable. Fantastic monitor, especially if you get it on sale.

The search is overview-small TV w HD alternative
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been through a few monitors in my search for the right one, including a Dell 4k 27" but the color, brightness and image quality of this monitor is better. I'm using this monitor in lieu of a TV, with Chromecast, as I found there is only one major brand 24" 1080 tv, and no 1080 or greater TVs until 32"; hence, only monitors offer greater than 1080 HD quality viewing in the 24-32" range. Weird. The brightness and color quality are great. It has 4, 3.0 USB and two with up to 2A charging. I agree with other reviewers' that the adjust buttons are a bit stiff, but once you set up your input, I don't expect much need to use anything other than on and off. The adjustable stand is nice if not better than some after market units I've looked at.

Great Purchase!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was time for a new monitor and like anything else, experience determines your requirements. For me a monitor has to be adjustable. Not just tilt like a regular everyday monitor but also HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT. This was the main feature that grabbed my attention with this model. I like to look straight ahead when working on the computer like slouched down like everyone has grown accustomed to. Another great feature is the left hand side of the monitor has USB 3.0 jacks. No more reach down or over to the tower. Plug your thumb drive right into the side of the monitor. Nice convenience. Oh yeah... and the picture is great!

Q: QuestionWhat cable or adaptors to I need to hook this monitor up to a mid-2015 Macbook Pro 15" Retina to get 2560 x 1440 resolution. I've read this monitor with do so out of the box but I'm not sure the cable or the cable adapter it needs. Will HDMI provide?

Q: QuestionI have a Nvidia Ge Force GT 710 graphics card with a maximum resolution of 4k.Will this work with HDMI port on my computer(no Display Port)?I dont plan on gaming,I just want to watch 2k-4k videos on my computer. Will HDR on monitor work with my video card?
Asked by 99jeep4x4.
- A:Answer According to Nvidia's site... https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-710/specifications Yes, your graphics card will be able to handle 2k video over an HDMI 2.0 cable. However, Nvidia does not say if it can handle HDR. I would suggest calling Nvidia directly for the fastest and most accurate answer. Best of luck!

Q: Questionwhich version of display port it support? (1.4)?
Asked by katanapuffin.
- A:Answer I believe this has both standard and mini. This has hdmi but when i used it, it caused all sorts of problems and the solve is to revert back to an old hdmi protocol which doesn’t support all the newest features of hdmi, less than an ideal solution.
