What's New
Since the Honda CR-V was introduced as a fully redesigned model last year, the 2024 model has arrived without any major changes. Last year’s redesign saw the CR-V cement its place as a leader in the compact segment, continuing to be a jack of all trades. Unfortunately, shoppers looking to purchase a 2024 CR-V will notice that pricing has gone up by a wide margin compared to last year.
Choosing Your Honda CR-V
Honda offers the 2024 CR-V in three trims: LX, EX, and EX-L. Pricing for the LX starts at $30,795 (with destination) and the range-topping EX-L costs $35,955. Compared to last year, the 2024 CR-V's price tag has gone up by $1,090.
The CR-V is also available with a hybrid powertrain in the Honda CR-V Hybrid. That model is covered separately.
Engine Choices
The gas-only CR-V comes with a single powertrain. Power for the SUV comes from a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. The CR-V comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission that routes power to the front wheel as standard. All-wheel drive is available for $1,500.
With FWD, the CR-V is rated to get up to 30 mpg combined, while AWD brings the SUV’s combined fuel economy rating down to 29 mpg.
Passenger and Cargo Capacity
The two-row CR-V is classified as a compact SUV with seating for up to five people. With 38.2 inches of rear headroom and 41 inches of rear legroom, the CR-V has roomy rear seats with plenty of space for adults.
Cargo capacity for the CR-V is impressive for the compact segment. The SUV offers up to 36 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats in place and up to 76.5 cubic feet of total cargo space with the rear seats folded. The top-of-the-line EX-L trim has a lower rear load floor than other trims in the lineup which increases cargo capacity to 39.3 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats.
Safety Features
Honda includes its Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety features as standard equipment on the 2024 CR-V. Standard safety features on the SUV include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. Other standard features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam assist.
Stepping up to the EX-L trim brings parking sensors, a driver attention monitor, low-speed braking control, and traffic jam assist.
Connectivity
A seven-inch touchscreen and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster are standard on the 2024 Honda CR-V. Other standard tech features include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Amazon Alexa, and four audio speakers. The EX trim comes with a six-speaker audio system and extra USB-C charging ports.
Honda saves a nine-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker audio system, a wireless charging pad, an HD Radio, and satellite radio for the EX-L trim.
2024 Honda CR-V LX – From $30,795
The entry-level LX trim comes well-equipped with 17-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, automatic headlights, and keyless entry. On the inside, the LX trim has automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, a push-button start, and manually adjustable front seats.
Honda doesn’t offer the CR-V with any major packages. The SUV is available with dealer-installed packages. The HPD Package adds a spoiler, an HPD emblem, HPD decals, fender flares, and body accents for $1,745. The Utility Package costs $1,780 and includes roof rails, cross bars, running boards, and a trailer hitch.
2024 Honda CR-V EX – From $33,305
The EX trim represents a good starting point for most shoppers. It adds a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
2024 Honda CR-V EX-L – From $35,955
For an extra $2,650, the EX-L trim adds a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a leather-wrapped shift knob, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory settings, and a four-way power-adjustable passenger’s seat. These features build upon the SUV’s extra tech features.
The 2024 Honda CR-V EX offers the best value in the lineup. While it comes with heated exterior mirrors and a moonroof, which are things some drivers may never use, the addition of dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat are niceties that are worth upgrading for.
