It comes with unpowered mount (meaning you plugin mini-usb cable into GPS), some reviews prefer powered mounts.

Does this item include windshield mounting or any other way to hold the device

GPS does not have WIFI, you must use PC (with Garmin Express installed).

Do you need a PC to update maps? Or is the unit capable of updating wireless.

First customer review on another site is dated Sep 2014.    Garmin, just like any other company, is doing whatever they think will maximize sales.

Does anyone know the original release year for this unit? I don&#39;t know why Garmin does not provide this info.

Pros: The voice and pictures are clear and I can find what I am looking for since I don't have a 'smart phone' to give me directions.  I have no regrets in purchasing this - but I need to travel more now to become better familiar with it.  Wish I had it for my 4400+ mile trip I just got back from.

Cons: I'm still trying to figure out how to use it.  The online manual does not come up correctly (no words or pictures - just arrows on the 24 pages) so having no experience with GPS's I'm at a loss unless I get a friend to help me and they're just playing around figuring it out too.

Pros: Traffic updates Fast.

When Synced to Bluetooth via Smartphone, Weather is available on maps.

The Bluetooth speaker for phone calls is Loud and Clear.

Garmin Express is able to sync favorites from older Nuvi units so nothing is missing.

FourSquare app.

Big screen is easy on the eyes.

Other thoughts: I have been using Garmin Nuvi GPS units for several years now.

They just keep improving them with more and more features.

Not sure where they can improve from here, but for me\...

the Nuvi 2699 is as close to perfect as I think I will need.

Great GPS

Pros: A great GPS...I  have own 6 since day one with GPSs...This one has all the toy you can use...Heading to Fla in 2 weeks and looking forward to see how the 2699 works compared to the other Garmins I have had..

Cons: None so far!!!

Other thoughts: Bought this because of the high ratings from customers....

A Great Product

Pros: It gives directions by landmarks [eg 'turn right at the stoplight', 'turn left before the CVS store'] when it can -- much better than trying to read a small street sign ['turn right on County 30'] and there might not BE a street sign at that turn.

It takes voice commands [eg 'Find Starbucks']. With the voice commands,I find I put in specific destinations far more often with the 2699LMT than I did with my old GPS.

Displaying the speed limits is invaluable. 

The 6' size makes everything more readable than the 5'.

Cons: None.

Other thoughts: The new 2699LMTHD works so much nicer and smoother than my old 2555LMT which died (which worked pretty well) that I'm glad it died so I could get this new one.

Great upgrade from my 2555LMT which died

Pros: Traffic works great. The screen is really clear, glass display is the only way to go.

Cons: As with what seem to be the case with all Garmin GPS's you can't tell how much memory it has untill you buy it and look. My last Garmin still works but the maps got so large that they no longer would fit. I just hope I can use this one as long or longer than the last one.

Pros: Just updated my old Nuvi, which was getting tired and stupid. I have been using the 2699 for about a month and love it. Great new features. Buydig prices cannot be beat.

Nuvi 2699LMT

Pros: I upgraded from a Garmin Nuvi 265 because of the larger screen; HD traffic updates; freeway lane assist and junction view. This hands-free voice command is very helpful.  I've been using this around town to become familiar with the new features and look forward to the next road trip.

Cons: Not all freeway interchanges were shown in lane assist/junction view mode so I wonder why that was. Battery power life is minimal and should be increased.

Refurbished Garmin 2699LMTHD GPS as Good as New!

Having owned a few Garmins before, this is definitely a premium unit: voice control, smart-phone like touch screen.  Unit is relatively stable (only a few crashes in the last year), Garmin just released unit software upgrade (so they are still actively maintaining it).  About the screen: although it is clear and bright, it gets hard to see at a certain glare angle.   Being touch screen, smudges are a new fact of life.  You can use the unit for phone calls, but audio quality is low (can be selectively disabled).  Being a large unit, the battery lasts only for a few minutes.

In this day and age, you really want to buy a GPS that has life time maps (LM in model number): these show up few times a year.  Traffic receiver (T in model number) works, but no where as good as Google Maps or Waze.  HD traffic is only relevant if you live in the area with coverage.

Unit can be linked with internet-connected smart phone via Bluetooth and Garmin app, but with limited usefulness: it shows weather, but not gas prices, can add new POIs, but cannot modify route.

For some reason, Garmin does not clearly mention that to take route planning to another level, you want to use Garmin Basecamp (free).

Probably the biggest problem with the unit is quality of navigation: comparing it with an old TomTom and smart-phone navigation, this unit attempts to be creative usually in a bad way.  You will presumably still arrive where you are going, but you might end up taking few detours / minor roads.

Good reliable unit with so-so directions.

Pros: You can't go wrong with this model for the money however you may find a defect if the refurb didn't get done properly.

Cons: Backlight has to be fiddled with everytime it powers on in order to get it bright enough to see details during the day.
