Awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first when I looked at the display model, I wasn't sure if I wanted it because it wasn't as fast as i was used to, in comparison to my iphone/computer. I decided to just go for it and purchase it, and now I'm so glad that I did! I like that I can instantly have whatever book I want in my hand within a minute. Another thing I like about this, is that I can just throw it in my purse and bring it anywhere! I love it now, and it's just so convenient. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves reading!

great reader on the market today
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wished it was just a little bigger. But it does fit in my jeans back pocket. I bought it because my tablet always had a glare on the glass screen. This is just like reading a paperback book.

My most prized possesion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been exactly three months since the day that I bought my Kindle Paperwhite. I bought a Kindle because I naturally enjoyed reading and I wanted a device with a nice battery. However I chose the Paperwhite because I didn't want any other distractions. I also thought it'd be pretty nice to have a device that can carry my entire book collection in as little 7.3 ounces. Before buying this device I had a cell phone that I would read on... Not only was that giving me headaches and causing my eyes to feel dry and uncomfortable, my phone battery would drain pretty fast too. I realized that reading ebooks on my Google Play Books app was something that I couldn't do forever. At that time I was still buying paper books and the books I would buy were usually around twenty dollars. I like to read but at that price I was more of a casual reader, maybe one book every three months. Then I thought why not buy an e-reader. So I did my research and committed to buying the Kindle Paperwhite. After buying it I realized that Amazon not only had millions of books in their ebook store(and that number is constantly growing), but their prices are so low compared to print. As a result I have increased the amount of books that I read. Now I read about two books a week. That might not sound like much but I have a crazy work schedule and I always love it when I can settle down for even just one hour to read. I didn't even know I liked reading so much, I didn't think for a second that I would give up on watching t.v., killing time on the web or playing video games just so I could spend more time reading(I would add social media but I gave up on that years ago). This Kindle Paperwhite has not only changed my life for the better, it has also become my most prized possession in doing so. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE WHO ASKED ME ABOUT IT.

Good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: - The display is crisp, it's like reading a book - The back light is helpful, I wasn't sure that it would be necessary, but I'm glad that I got the Kindle model with it - My library offers e-books for free. They can be reserved and returned like a regular book and the e-book is already downloaded to my Kindle by the time I can log off the website. - It fits in my coat pocket, although not small, it's a good size for traveling - The advertising is unobtrusive, no popups, just a single page when I first turn on the device - No short wave-length blue light to disrupt my sleep - Long battery life compared to my other devices, I haven't even recharged it yet after weeks of use Cons: - Basically, it's sort of "laggy", when I touch the screen to enter the unlock PIN, the numbers don't always get entered as there is a delay and tapping the numbers too fast means that one or two don't get recognized, and the screen flashes while it refreshes, the screen reverses the colors, dark to light and light to dark, when moving to the next page of a book, it's as if it refreshes the screen, but it's doing is very slowly, so that my eyes can see it happening. It's not something that I expected to see in a 2015 device with a singular function.

Great e-reader but ad supported
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 10 year old son loves to read but his eyesight isn't too good. He has trouble reading normal books because of the eye-strain. We bought this Kindle to see if it helps, which it does. He can easily zoom in so the font is big and easy to read for him. We tried using our iPad but he is too distracted by all the other apps in the iPad. We chose this Kindle because there are no distracting apps. This Kindle works much better than our iPad as an e-reader because the battery lasts for a very long time and the backlight can be switched off for daytime use. The Kindle display is excellent with the backlight off and works perfect, even in direct sunlight. It is a little extra work to check out e-books from the library when compared to conventional books, and the selection is more limited. But with my son's eye problems, it is a no brainer. The only problem is, the $20 discount for this Kindle means it is Ad Supported. There are some annoying ads that can easily distract a 10 year old. I am a little upset at Best Buy because the in-store display said nothing about this Kindle being ad supported. If I pay Amazon $20, the ads will go away. I will probably give in and pay up, but I'm not too happy about it. I feel this product was mis-represented by Best Buy. They need to fix that.

GREAT for reading
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent device for reading! Easy to see and hold-I have an iPad but found it very heard to read a book on especially when outside. The Paperwhite is exactly what I was looking for. It's very light and simple to use. I got the device with ads and so far, they are not a bother. Only come on when the kindle is in sleep mode. LONG battery life. I used it everyday and have gone 2 full weeks without a charge. HIGHLY recommend this for anyone looking for a day and night tablet for reading.

We have two in our house!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my Kindle Paperwhite because I travel quite a bit for work and hate when I finish a book mid-way through a trip. Who wants to carry around multiple books in their bag when you need that extra room for shoes? (jk.... sort of) Reading on my iPad2 for long periods tends to hurt my eyes and holding it up for longer than a few minutes is a work-out. I didn't want or need another device with fancy apps or ways to watch Netflix. I just wanted to read fabulous books. The Paperwhite is so easy to read, I find myself flying through books on it. The backlight is an excellent feature that allows you to read just as easily in full sun by the pool as it does with the lights off in bed (without waking your spouse or partner). My husband loved mine so much I had to buy him his own to keep him from constantly borrowing it (and then leaving him empty handed when I left town for meetings and events). I've become an unofficial spokesperson for this product in my group of friends and peers.

Cool technology.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first e-reader. I am not an avid reader, but had been curious about these devices for some time and finally caught one on sale. I think it's very cool technology, and so far it has encouraged me to read more. I believe the text on a good tablet screen is a bit sharper and blacker, but I bought this for it's long battery life and fewer distractions from the purpose of reading. I really like the anti glare screen and adjustable light. I also really like the dictionary feature, and the info at the bottom of the screen which keeps you informed of your overall progress. It has some quirks which I think are common to all e-readers. You may notice slight ghosting on occasion(which clears as soon as you refresh the screen),and the way the screen flashes when it refreshes can seem weird. But these things are not very noticeable unless you are really looking for them. The touch screen works well, and even has a pinch function for making the text larger or smaller. It's not as responsive as a tablet or smart phone screen, but that has not been much of a distraction. It was easy to get set up on my WiFi,and loading books has been quick and painless so far(mostly freebees from Amazon and Gutenberg). I used it for about a week before getting a nice budget case(Fintie Folio). The case automatically turns it on and off(technically sleep/wake),which is nice because the on/off button is small and a bit tedious if you turn it on and off frequently. Also, the case makes it more comfortable to hold for long periods of time, since you can hold it more like an open book. It wasn't bad before the case, but is much nicer after, and I feel like it's better protected. As for battery life, after the initial charge I used it almost daily for nearly 3 weeks before the battery indicator got very low and I decided to recharge. Not as good the 2 months I had read about somwhere, but I did a lot of tinkering that first week as I was checking out all the features. I keep it in airplane mode when I'm not using the WiFi. I'm giving it 5 stars because it works great for it's intended use and I've really enjoyed it so far. If you compare it to a tablet with a reading app,it may fall short in some areas, but I had done my research and knew what to expect. Hopefully it will continue to work well for a long time, but it's much too early to say.

Q: QuestionHello! I was going to buy the kindle peperwhite 2GB and now see 4GBHello! I was going to buy the kindle peperwhite 2GB and now see 4GB What is the real difference? I have never bought anything from best buy.. is it safe.. the kindle peperwhite will be new? thanks
Asked by LTPG.
- A:Answer Hey I wondered all those questions when I bought mine. The only difference is the 4GB model will hold twice as many books. Other than that there is no difference. Yes it is safe and your actually getting 4GB instead of 2GB. Yes your Kindle Paperwhite will be new. BUT JUST TO BE SAFE: There is a set of numbers called a SKU on the products main page. This set of numbers identifies that product specifically in the store. So to avoid any confusion with any other models write the SKU numbers down and take them with you to the store and show it to an associate. That way you can make sure you get the 4GB version. If you want to double check when your new Kindle is powered on click menu button>settings>menu button>device info. On that screen you should see that you have 3,000-4,000 MB free(I forgot the exact number you'll have).

Q: QuestionIs the font size changeable?I have macular degeneration and I find it helpful to read with a larger font than most people are comfortable using
Asked by Eve.
- A:Answer Absolutely. You can use a pinch gesture as you would on an iPad or any tablet to adjust the font size easily or otherwise use the size adjustment features in the software. You can make the font quite large.
